Device manager does not recognize installed HDD Solved Device Manager. Hello all. I have a problem I cat seen to figure out. I recently picked up a new 2. TB Seagate laptop SATA HDD for my Asus G7. Jh laptopp running windows 8. When installed in the secondary HDD bay, disk manager does NOT recognize the disk, however if I use a USB adapter the disk pops right up. So I formatted it NTFS while plugged into the USB port and tried to re install it into the drive bay. Same problem, its not being recognized I tried another SATA HDD in the drive bay and others will work fine, so I know the problem is not the 2. TB HDD and I know its not the bay but when I put them together, problem Also The Bios doesnt recognize the HDD in AHCI mode. IDE mode but then my existing Drive does not boot so I have to change the SATA mode back to AHCI. I also checked the Mobo drivers everything seems to be installed and updated to the latest version by windows 8. So Im loosing my mind here.
